MAC Simpsons Fall 2014 Collection: Epic Fail or Mastermind Genius

Hello Gorgeous!

Well, the first official MAC product shots for their Simpsons Fall 2014 line have finally come out & it is safe to say that I think they're going to have all the Simpsons fandom in an uproar if this is the finalized collection.

One palette with 4 colors that only have ONE even remotely "Marge" color (her blue hair), what looks like one blush (a peach-pink from what this picture looks like... When does Marge where blush?? & when is it pink?!), a pair of eyelashes that actually look like her lashes (ok, pretty cool but I won't be picking them up in any case), & what appears to be a buttercup yellow lipglass. That's right folks.. They took away our lipsticks & gave us ONE lipglass... & ITS PALE YELLOW! I probably would never have bought or worn it but I know a lot of people were itching for a Marge hair blue lipglass - yah know, since lipsticks this collection were out of the question.

I'm hoping & praying this is just a teaser shot because I am honestly disappointed. If anything I'll end up grabbing 2 blushes (I lalalaLOVE blushes & hoard them. #NoShame) & MAYBE the palette pending on swatches. It's honestly just the packaging & imprinting on the powder that gets me. It's cheeky & crude like the Simpsons. I just wish MAC had thought this through. They could've done so much more with this.

So... Now that the first official product shot has been released, what is everyone thinking? Is everyone still hyped up? Spill it.

MAC Simpsons Fall 2014 Collection

 Hello Gorgeous!

My dear friend Sharon, over at Hello There, Blondie, & I were recently discussing the new MAC Fall 2014 collection which is inspired by the longest on air running show The Simpsons.

I can honestly tell you I am beyond ridiculously excited for this line simply because I grew up with the Simpsons & well... Yeah. I've been digging & digging looking for some potential swatches but nothing has popped up yet even though the tentative date release is in September. The collection itself is based off if Marge which kind of worries me since her color palette isn't very diverse - in all her yellow skin, blue hair, green dressy-ness.

I think we will be seeing a few yellows & PRAYING for something with her trademark blue beehive. Rumor has it, however, there will be NO lipsticks! D: *dies* & that the packaging will be the standard black. Some even say the colors will just be repromotes.

Don't fail us now, MAC.

Are you planning on getting this line? What do you think we will be seeing & what do you hope to see?

L'Oreal Spring 2013 Color Riche Balms

So as with any new thing that comes out in the makeup community, us beauty bloggers just HAVE to get our grubby little paws on it. I actually bought these when I bought my L'Oreal Spring 2013 nail polishes {blog post found here} but I kept forgetting to swatch these & post them. So, here yah go! Just be warned, this is heavily picture laden.

There are 6 colors total: a light pink, a coral, a magenta, a purpley shade, a blue, & a butterscoth yellowy shade. I swatched the blue & yellow in the store & was NOT pleased. The blue was a light blue tint that I could only imagine it making one look like they had frost bite. Yeah, not a smart color choice L'Oreal. What's with makeup companies coming out with a LIGHT blue lip product this spring? It's HIDEOUS! The yellow color didn't have ANY pigmentation to it at all. In fact, it was just like applying a clear balm. SOOOOO not worth it.

This first color is "Provence Romance". In the tube it is a purple based pink but more on the magenta side. I was actually hoping this would be a gorgeous balm but it didn't do anything to my lips except make them glossy.

The second color I grabbed was "Legally Regal". I'm not really too thrilled with the color which is another purpley pink but more on the purple side this time. This one actually had quite a bit of pigmentation on it.

The third color I picked up is called "Come By My Window"; a light baby pink - PERFECT for every day! This one as well had quite a bit or pigmentation on it.

The final color I grabbed was the one I was most excited for - "Laze in the Maze"; a gorgeous coral color! I don't know what it is lately but I've been ITCHING for tons of coral lippies. The pigmentation on this one is sheer but can get a good solid coat with some work.

Overall, I don't know why I keep buying the Color Riche balms when I'm never satisfied with them. They feel greasy on my lips & the pigmentation is hit or miss depending on the color you get. I was hoping they were like the Revlon lip butters but they pale in comparison. I think this may be my last time getting these.

DIY: Vanity Project

So I got a request from one of my lovely fans, Allie, asking about my vanity when I told her it was repurposed from my oldest son's CRIB! Yes, CRIB! I found the idea on pinterest {Here's the original post: http://www.frugalcouponliving.com/2012/10/07/converted-old-crip-into-new-desk/ } & modified it to fit my needs. (: So when we were moving my vanity from the upstairs bedroom into my new makeup room downstairs {Watch my VLOG on the transformation here} I decided now was the PERFECT time to snappy snap some pictures & tell yah what's up! ^__^

This is going to be a heavily picture laddened post. You have been warned.

First things first, I needed to grab the pieces to the crib... just not the drop side part. So, the back, 2 sides, & the bed frame part... thing. Hah hah. Oh! & having some help of friends {in my case my hubby & our friend} is an AWESOME plus! You'll also need wood screws, a drill, & a drill bit.

Bed pieces assemble, hoooo!
{Who gets the reference? Please don't make me feel old, hah hah!}

Second, put the sides of the of the crib on at the back piece at the level they would be if you were putting together an actual crib. You may need to drill another hole if you're putting it at a level where there are no screw holes, kind of like we did.

The boys hard at work, hah hah

Then place the front braces on the crib OPPOSITE of the back piece.

 Even the munchkins helped!

After you get the structure done, it's time to add the bed frame part.

 & tada!

Munchkins not included.

This picture was taken BEFORE I put on the wood plank top, but you can use anything as your topper. Hubby says he's going to build me a better customized top instead of the palette planks that I am using now. Yayyy! ♥

So you don't have to spend thousands of dollars on a dresser if you know how to build stuff! So go on, give DIY a try! I'd love to see your creations!
