Girls can be geeky too...

Who says girls can't be geeks, nerds, gamers, or hell! Just like all sorts of sci-fi nerdomy type stuff! I decided to have my go at Loot Crate! If you're not sure what Loot Crate is, it's a monthly subscription box that's $20/month (& that includes shipping) that is themed to all things geeky. Aprils theme was "fantasy" &, unlike Ipsy or Birchbox or any beauty subscription service I've been a part of before, they don't give you any sort of preview of what is potentially in your box.

I had debated with myself on whether I wanted to make an unboxing video or do a blog post. I obviously decided on the blog post because after watching Kaylas unboxing (over at Microscope Beauty) video I knew I wasn't going to be as please with the items I received. It's not that they're bad items... They're just items im not entirely thrilled about.

But I will let you be the judge of that.

Loot crate boxes come in a sophisticated black box with white writing. Nothing seemingly too fancy, right? Pop the seal & your goodies will be the ultimate surprise.

Your items & the inside of the box is wonderfully decorated to match the theme of the month. Since this months theme is "fantasy" the inside is decorated with a very cute "wooden" background with a map & dagger. I honestly love the inside details. Now for your items...

This month came with the following goodies:
» a D&D tshirt
» a D&D bow tie
» a deck of "Princess Bride" cards
» a Harry Potter luggage tag
» an inflatable crown
» a Game of Thrones usb
» Game of Thrones magnets
» a button (which apparently comes with all orders)

Just from watching other unboxings, i was super super excited for the t-shirt, USB, & Harry Potter luggage tag (especially since I'll be doing a lot of traveling this summer!) The button is cute too, probably something I'll clip onto my carry on bag. The playing cards would be great for traveling too... Solitaire on a 2 hour layover, anyone? Not to keen on the bow tie (it's not cute in the slightest... Maybe I can dig it to look like a hair bow...?) & the crown? Well, that's going to end up going to the kiddos.

This t-shirt though! Omgosh! It's so soft & 100% cotton. I ordered a medium & it fits like a dream. It's not a tight medium & it hugs my curves as a woman perfect. The design is a typograph style which can be used as a conversation starter (either for those who want to know what the design on your shirt says or for those other nerds of the world who have found a fellow D&D'er!). I use to play D&D in middle school & haven't played since but I am in love with this shirt.

So, this is the elusive bow tie. Its not too horrible but it is definitely not something I would wear cause - uh - I am not one who wear bow ties. ^.^;  I will say that if I can reconfigure this, I will totally make this into a hair bow to wrap around a bun or something. The design on it is definitely something for D&D; it has the 20 sided die as well as the little dragon symbol. The red of the bow matches the red of the shirt that was included in the box.

So next is this amazing little find: The Stark House crest Game of Thrones USB. I love the immense amount of details that they added to this. Unfortunately, the storage space on this itty bitty thing is itty bitty. It is only 3.74 GB which can maybe hold a few files. If youre expecting it to house a bit of your files, you will be sorely disappointed. This is still a pretty awesome find in the box.

Now this I am really excited for & it will adorn my luggage proudly. Harry Potter was my first "geeky" love. I have a lot of traveling going on this summer so I will most definitely get a lot of use out of this. {Be sure to stay tuned to the blog & Youtube channel to see what adventures I will be having this summer!}

Here are the other little bits & bobs found in the box that honestly do not interest me {Not pictured: Inflatable gold crown}. A deck of Princess Bride playing cards, Game of Throne magnets, & a little booklet with some photos & information on the items found in the LC box.

& of course the monthly button. I honestly adore this button & it will see the world with me over the summer too. From what I have heard, each LC box comes with a themed button.

Did any of you receive Aprils LC box or any other month from them? What are your thoughts? I have also purchased a Custom Fan Box subscription box for May & will do a comparison either blog post or unboxing video... maybe both! Are you wanting to give Loot Crate a try? You can sign up under my link & receive an email to get a discount on your first purchase. Mays theme is "Unite" - heres hoping for a great box!
